Did you see what I just saw?

Perception is a fascinating thing. I'm amazed to see how a group of people can all have a shared experience and leave with polar opposite views of what just took place. The natural reaction is to assume that everyone is experiencing the same thing we are...that is rarely the case. We may be in the same room, watching the same thing, and hearing the same words but our perception of what is taking place can still be miles apart. The human psyche is an amazing thing. Every experience we have is filtered through who we are, our past experiences, and the condition of our heart.

It seems as if there should be an exception. If we are listening to God's Holy Spirit and reacting to the discernment He gives us than it seems as if we would come to the same conclusions. The challenge than is getting all of our 'baggage' out of the way so we can hear what God is saying. In a noisy world with people in our ears at what seems like every moment it can be tough to still the mind and heart and commune with the Spirit. Let's pray for one another to be able to sort through the baggage and hear God's Spirit.
